BRITNEY BOYD

Britney Boyd is a native of Jacksonville, FL. She began training at the age of 3 under the direction of Barbara Thompson. In middle school, Ms. Boyd was accepted into LaVilla School of the Arts where she trained with Michelle Ottley-Fisher and Ashley Cunningham. Once entering high school at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Ms.Boyd was accepted into Dance Theater, a prestigious group of dancers chosen among the many talented in the department. While in Dance Theater she was chosen to work with several choreographers in soloist roles, among them are Rhonda Stampalia, Dr. Phyllis Penney, Ronen Koresh and Eddie Toussaint.
In 2008, Ms. Boyd graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance. During her time at the University of the Arts Ms. Boyd was chosen to perform lead roles in Wayne St. David’s adaption of ‘Medusa’, Scott Jovovich’s re-staging of an excerpt of ‘Sweet Charity’, Molly Misgalla’s ‘Moulin Rouge’ and several pieces by the innovative Ronen Koresh. Upon graduation, she joined Stiletto Entertainment’s company in accordance with Holland America Line where she danced in various shows and was awarded several premiere roles. Along with dancing on cruise ships, she has also opened for Fashion Week in LA, was a ‘swing’ dancer for all female roles at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, and was Dance Captain while on contract for Holland America Line.
Ms. Boyd has since returned to Jacksonville, FL where she now pays homage to her training while teaching various classes for LaVilla School of the Arts, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and is the proud owner of Britney Boyd Dance Company. Britney Boyd is devoted to nurturing the creative and artistic development of all students and their individuality. She is proud to say that the faculty at Britney Boyd Dance Company is just as dedicated to educating students with the best training possible. Classes at BBDC are filled with positive learning environments where through our commitment; we guide children towards success in making their dreams come true.
